Software Update to Version 10
The update to version 10 requires to update the CLIENT and the SERVER software. The installation of both updates requires administration rights on the computer(s) where the client and server are running. If only the server software is updated users can still login but will receive a warning and some new features will not work. The same happens if only the client software is updated,
On Windows the update must be installed by downloading and executing the Windows installers below. The execution of the installers requires administration rights on the computer.
On Linux the update must be installed by removing (or renaming) the whole installation directory and replace it with the new one from tgz archive files below.
When the SeqSphere+ Client on Windows is started for the first time after updating, a dialog with an update for the Windows Subsystem for Linux will be shown. This update is optional for most users, it provides minor version updates for MOB-Suite and CGE MobileElementFinder. If the ONT Data Assembly Module is used, the WSL update is mandatory and for the Long-read Data Plasmid Transmission Analysis Module it is highly recommended.
Installation Steps
- Shutdown the SeqSphere+ server process. (On Windows use the Start menu item 'Ridom SeqSphere Server | Stop SeqSphere Service')
- Exit all SeqSphere+ client processes.
- Download the installer or tgz-archive for the SeqSphere+ SERVER from below.
- On Windows: Start the downloaded server installer executable and follow the messages of the installation wizard dialog.
On Linux: Move or rename the old installation folder to another location, then extract the downloaded tgz-archive (if rcseqsphereserver.sh was modified manually be sure to keep it). - Start the SeqSphere+ server process again. (On Windows use the Start menu item 'Ridom SeqSphere Server | Start SeqSphere Service')
- Download the installer or tgz-archive for the SeqSphere+ CLIENT from below.
- On Windows: Start the downloaded client installer executable and follow the messages of the installation wizard dialog.
On Linux: Move or rename the old installation folder to another location, then extract the downloaded tgz-archive. - Start the SeqSphere+ client and try to login to the server.
- On Windows: A dialog with an new WSL image will be shown. Installing this new image is optional for most users, it provides minor version updates for MOB-Suite and CGE MobileElementFinder. It is mandatory only if the ONT Data Assembly Module is used.
On Linux: A dialog with an update for the bioinformatic tools will be shown. This is optional for most users, it provides minor version updates for MOB-Suite and CGE MobileElementFinder. It is mandatory only if the ONT Data Assembly Module is used.
Please use the Ridom SeqSphere+ menu 'Help | About' after the client has been updated to see the complete list of version changes.
